How fomotip works

Every rule this site runs on, in plain words: where your ETH goes, which coins can take it, how creator rewards get paid, what is stored about you, and what can still go wrong.

What fomotip is

A tip jar for the people who launch the coins you trade on fomo, and a place to say why you are in one.

You write a thesis — why this coin, in your own words — and then tip the creators of the coins it names. Each tip is an ordinary ETH transfer on Robinhood Chain, sent by your own wallet, straight to that coin's . There is no deposit, no claim step and no account.

  • fomotip never holds your ETH. In direct mode nothing sits between your wallet and the creator, and fomotip takes no cut at all.
  • Publishing a thesis costs no gas. It is a signature, not a transaction.
  • Every tip is its own transaction you can open on the explorer.
  • fomotip is not part of fomo. It is an independent community project, not affiliated with or endorsed by FOMO Labs Inc.

Where a tip lands

The payout address is read from the chain, not typed in by us — and it is read three separate times before your ETH moves.

  1. 1The fomotip API resolves it and shows you the address and where it came from.
  2. 2Your browser reads the same contracts again through your own wallet's connection and refuses to send if the two answers differ.
  3. 3Your wallet shows you the recipient one last time before you approve it.
Where the coin came fromWho gets the tip
launchThe creatorFeeRecipient on the factory's getLaunchedToken(). When a launch left it empty, Pons fills it with the launching wallet.
Pons v1 launchThe set on the locker. When none is set, the coin's deployer.
Anything elseUnresolved. fomotip says so on the coin and disables tipping rather than guessing an address.

The one rule that never bends: fomotip will not send ETH to an address it could not verify on-chain seconds earlier. You can check any coin yourself with the resolver on the home page, before connecting anything.

Which coins can be tipped

  • Pons v2 and Pons v1 coins on Robinhood Chain. Their payout address exists on-chain and can be checked before anything moves.
  • coins, the ones paired with a tokenized stock. Their fees go to the launchpad itself and no creator fee wallet exists on-chain, so there is nobody to pay. fomotip says exactly that on the coin instead of inventing a recipient.
  • Coins on Solana or BNB. Their theses are shown, because the fomo feed covers every chain, but a tip needs a Robinhood Chain payout address.

A brand-new Pons stack is configuration, not magic. If Pons ships a new factory, fomotip has to be told about it — until then coins launched on it resolve as unverified and stay untippable. That is the safe failure, not a bug.

Writing a thesis

The thesis is the point. The tip is what you do about it.

  • Your wallet signs the text. The signature is what proves you wrote it, and it costs no gas.
  • Up to 10 coins per thesis — only the ones the thesis is actually about.
  • Already posted it on fomo.family? Import it with your handle instead of retyping it, and it keeps its original timestamp.
  • You can publish a thesis and tip nothing. The two are separate steps.

Published theses get a permalink at /t/<id> with a generated share card for X, and they show up on the coin's page and in the live feed.

Co-signing

Backing someone else's thesis with your own money, instead of replying “this”.

Open a thesis, pick an amount, and every coin it names is tipped to its creator fee wallet — with an optional slice going to the wallet that wrote the thesis. The default is 10%, yours to move between 0 and 30%.

  • The author transfer is re-read on-chain like every other tip: the recipient has to be the wallet that signed that exact thesis.
  • Theses mirrored from fomo.family cannot be co-signed until their writer proves a handle here — there is no wallet on Robinhood Chain to pay yet. Their coins can still be tipped.

The most co-signed board ranks by co-signers holding a proved fomo handle first, then by wallet count, then by ETH. Ten fresh wallets are cheap; ten proved handles are not.

Proving your fomo handle

A fomo wallet is a smart wallet the app manages, so it cannot sign a message. The proof runs the other way round.

  1. 1Your wallet signs the words “fomotip link”. Free, no transaction.
  2. 2fomotip hands you a one-time code, valid for 60 minutes.
  3. 3Paste the code into your fomo bio and press check.
  4. 4The server reads your bio and links the wallet to the handle. Delete the code afterwards if you like.
  • Shortcut: if your fomo profile already lists the same EVM address, it passes straight away without a code.
  • A proved handle is what makes you payable by a reward campaign, and what earns the badge.
  • One handle belongs to one wallet. It cannot be claimed twice.

fomo profile data is read through a third-party crawl, so a bio you just saved can take a few minutes to become visible. A failed check usually means “not yet”, not “wrong”.

Creator rewards

A coin's creator can put up a reward per thesis. fomotip escrows none of it — and says so on every board.

The creator announces a reward and a pool. Writers write, on fomotip or on fomo.family — both count. The creator then pays each writer with a plain transfer from their own wallet, which fomotip reads back off the chain. That is why every campaign shows , plus that creator's record across every campaign they have ever opened.

The brakes, announced inside the campaign's signed message so they cannot be changed quietly:

BrakeWhat it does
Proved handleThe campaign can require a verified fomo handle before a thesis is payable.
One per walletThe same payee wallet is rewarded once in a campaign.
Minimum lengthShorter than 80 characters is not a thesis.
Near-duplicate blockTwo theses sharing more than 80% of their words: the later one is treated as a copy.
Daily capAn optional ETH ceiling per day, on top of the pool.
fomo onlyOptionally pays only posts written on fomo.family.

Nothing is hard-rejected. A blocked thesis lands in the creator's queue with the reason attached, and the creator can still pay it by hand. The brakes decide what gets paid without anyone looking, not who is allowed to be paid.

A writer becomes payable only after proving a handle here. A fomo app wallet may not exist on Robinhood Chain at all, so paying a bare handle would risk sending ETH nowhere.

How you know a reward actually arrived

Nothing on Robinhood Chain notifies the person who was paid, and a writer on fomo.family has no account here to notify. So every payout gets a of its own. The creator copies it and replies to your thesis on fomo.family, which is a notification you do get. You can also open your own wallet's inbox at /me any time: every line there has its receipt, and the campaign page lists every payout it ever made.

A creator can also switch on an automatic payer. It is off by default and dry by default: it only pays campaigns its own wallet opened, only theses clearing every brake, a handful per run, under a daily ceiling, and it re-checks the database before each transfer so a restart can never pay the same writer twice.

Your pages

PageWhat is on it
/t/<id>One thesis, its co-signers, and a share card. Public link, not indexed.
/c/<token>A coin: where a tip would land, whether its creator still holds it, tips collected, live campaigns, every thesis written about it.
/u/<handle>A writer's tip jar, once they have proved their handle: what they have earned and everything they have written.
/meYour own inbox — tips in as a writer and as a coin creator, tips out, your theses and campaigns. No login: your wallet is the key, and the page is never indexed.
/rewardsEvery campaign running right now, with declared and paid side by side.
/r/<transaction>The receipt for one payout: who was paid, how much, for which thesis, and the transaction behind it. The link a creator sends you when a reward goes out.

Moderation

The fomo feed is not moderated. fomotip puts three cheap layers in front of it.

  • A word blocklist, plus link-only posts dropped before anything is displayed.
  • A report button on every thesis. Nothing is ever deleted — after 3 reports from different readers a thesis drops out of the public lists, and its permalink keeps working for anyone holding the link.
  • A minimum tip of 0.0005 ETH and a 60-minute window, so nobody can flood the feed with dust or claim a stranger's old transfer as their co-sign.

What fomotip reads and stores

Reads

  • Robinhood Chain, for payout addresses and to confirm every tip.
  • An independent paid API for the fomo feed, profiles and bios. fomotip is a reader there, nothing more.

Stores

  • Theses and their signatures.
  • Tips: transaction hash, amount and recipient, each re-read from the chain.
  • Wallet ↔ handle links, campaigns and their payouts.
  • Reports, as a salted hash of the reporter — never the address itself.
  • No accounts, no passwords, no email. Your wallet is the only identity fomotip has.
  • The database is backed up nightly and kept for two weeks.
  • fomotip never asks for a seed phrase or a private key, and never will. Nobody legitimate does.

Fees and limits

WhatHow much
fomotip feeNone. The whole tip reaches the creator; you only pay Robinhood Chain gas.
Minimum tip0.0005 ETH per coin. Anything smaller is not recorded.

Publishing a thesisFree. A signature, not a transaction.

What can go wrong

The honest list. Read it once before you send anything.

  • Tips are final. They are on-chain transfers. There is no refund, no reversal and no support desk that can claw one back. Check the coins and the amount in your wallet before you approve.
  • fomotip verifies the address, not the person. It proves the ETH goes where that coin's creator fees already go. It cannot promise anyone is still building, still around, or worth backing.
  • A reward is a promise, not escrow. Nothing is locked up. Read the paid column and the creator's record before you write for a pool.
  • Third-party data can lag. The fomo feed, profiles and bios come from an external crawl; a fresh post or a just-saved bio may take minutes to appear.
  • Nothing here is financial advice. A thesis is somebody's opinion, sometimes a paid one. Tips are voluntary support, not an investment, and buy you no claim on anything.

Glossary

Creator fee wallet
The address a coin's creator fees are paid to. On Pons v2 it is set at launch; on v1 it follows the fee redirect, or the deployer. Every fomotip tip lands here.
Pons
The launchpad behind most coins in the fomo feed on Robinhood Chain. v2 is the current stack; v1 coins still exist and are still tippable.
Airlock
A different launchpad whose coins are paired with a tokenized stock. Its fees go to the launchpad, so its coins have no creator to tip.
Thesis
A short piece of writing about why you are in a coin, signed by your wallet. Free to publish.
Co-sign
Tipping the coins in someone else's thesis, with an optional slice to the writer.
Campaign
A reward a coin's creator offers per thesis, paid from their own wallet and verified on-chain.
Payee
The wallet a reward can be sent to — a writer's wallet, once they have proved their fomo handle.
Direct mode
The mode fomotip runs in today: one plain transfer per coin, from you to the creator, with no contract in the middle and no fomotip fee.
